Throughout her life, the Queen Mother lost none of the legendary
charm which prompted his response. She was one of the most popular
members of the British royal family and, despite the ebb and flow
of the monarchy's popularity, she remained a much-loved figurehead
for the country until her death on March 29, 2002, aged 101. Born
on August 4, 1900, the penultimate of ten children, Elizabeth spent
her early years near London, before moving to Glamis Castle, in
Scotland, as a child. When World War I drew to a close, the 18-year-old
Elizabeth "came out" in society and was presented to the King and
Queen, as befitted an "It" girl of the time. The young debutante
did not meet her future husband, Bertie, until a year later. Although
she didn't realise it, the King's son had fallen in love with her
immediately, and asked for her hand in the spring of 1921. But,
much to his - and his parents' - dismay, she turned him down. When
he proposed a second time in January 1923, ...
A mother is a person who seeing there are only four pieces

mothers, but it is love just the same, and most mothers kiss and
scold together. ~Pearl S. Buck Thou art thy mother's glass, and

You are about to enter the shrine of the Mother of Old. But
even today, we personalize nature as female and call Her Mother
Nature or Mother Earth. "The Mother of all" is mostly portrayed
as a (maybe pregnant) corpulent female person with large breasts
and broad hips. "The Great Mother" was the only known and worshipped
Goddess of the stoneages. Of course the Great Mother had many symbols
and signs. It is certain, that the stoneage people did sacrifice
and made offerings to the Mother. Personally I don't believe the
pink-glasses wearing spiritual people of today that have the opinion
in the older ages everything had to be love and loveliness. But
trying to imagine what the stoneages people thought, I would think,
that giving the most precious gift -life itself- to the goddess
must have been an offering, which was made only for very special
purposes and reasons. Alas, maybe the thoughts on death were much
different from today's: Returning to the mother and promised rebirth.
With the publication of an expanded version of the previously
out-of-print biography, The Mother -- compiled by Mother Meera's
long-time devotee and attendant, Adilakshmi Olati -- we now have
detailed evidence from multiple sources substantiating this belief.
Mr. Reddy became the confidant and protector of Mother Meera, carefully
providing the atmosphere for her continued unfoldment, diligently
recording the narrative of Her transcendent experiences. In The
Mother we read accounts of Mother Meera's on-going journeys through
timeless dimensions, and meetings with realized beings on other
planes of existence. Because Answers offers Mother Meera's succinct
responses to frequently asked questions, this updated edition of
The Mother devotes only several pages to "Questions and Answers."
They describe the transforming power of Mother Meera's "darshan"
(gift of grace)' and offer observations of the Mother at work and
play -- as an artist, cook, seamstress, architect, construction

On this particular day, I came onto the tier at 8:30 a.m.
on my way to work out with my friend Bobby Harris. Mother Teresa
stayed to see you guys, too." Yes, it was Mother Teresa. I could
not care less about them. But standing before this woman, all I
could say was, "Thank you, Mother Teresa." Taking a chance, I walked
the few steps back and asked Mother Teresa for a medal for my sister-in-law.
then Mother Teresa turned and pointed her hand at the sergeant on
the shelf. Then out came a poloraid camera, and some guards began
taking pictures of themselves with Mother Teresa. Now I wear Mother
Teresa's medal every day.
MOTHER LOVE BONE Mother Love Bone has become a legendary
Seattle band, but its music is less familiar than its story. Now,
however, with the success of Pearl Jam, which includes Mother Love
Bone alumni Jeff Ament and Stone Gossard, and the slow climb of
the Wood tribute album, ''Temple of the Dog,'' Mercury has made
another attempt to find an audience for the original. His vocals
and lyric sensibility give Mother Love Bone a completely different
take than Pearl Jam, Nirvana, Soundgarden or Alice In Chains. Fans
of the Seattle sound in general will be amply rewarded should they
purchase this record, and those who particularly like Pearl Jam
and Soundgarden should definitely investigate Mother Love Bone.
The tragedy of Wood's death is the only shadow that hangs over this
album, for it is clear Mother Love Bone was still a young band with
a great future when these songs were written. LOVE ROCK AWAITS YOU

A Mothers Day Tribute "Mothers Day is in honor of the best
Mother who ever lived--the Mother of your heart" ~ Anna Jarvis Taylor
County, West Virginia is honored to have been the home of the inspiration
and founder of Mothers Day. Return to Main Page
The earliest Mother's Day celebrations can be traced back
to the spring celebrations of ancient Greece in honor of Rhea, the
Mother of the Gods. On Mothering Sunday the servants would have
the day off and were encouraged to return home and spend the day
with their mothers. In the United States Mother's Day was first
suggested in 1872 by Julia Ward Howe (who wrote the words to the
Battle hymn of the Republic) as a day dedicated to peace. Ms. Jarvis
persuaded her mother's church in Grafton, West Virginia to celebrate
Mother's Day on the second anniversary of her mother's death, the
2nd Sunday of May. By the next year Mother's Day was also celebrated
in Philadelphia. Ms. Jarvis and her supporters began to write to
ministers, businessman, and politicians in their quest to establish
a national Mother's Day. It was successful as by 1911 Mother's Day
was celebrated in almost every state. President Woodrow Wilson,
in 1914, made the official announcement proclaiming Mother's Day
as a ...

Mother's Day provides a great opportunity to cook up some
tasty treats for Mother! In a large bowl beat egg whites, cream
of tartar, and salt until foamy. Gradually beat in 1-3/4 cups sugar
(1 tablespoon at a time). Using high speed of mixer, beat until
stiff and glossy. Add 1/2 teaspoon extract; mix well. Spread in
a buttered 9 x 13-inch pan. Bake in 275 degree oven for 60 minutes.
Carefully fold in whipped cream and marshmallows; spread over meringue.
If your Mother loves pineapple and strawberries, this treat is for
her!
In 1914, President Woodrow Wilson officially proclaimed Mother's
Day as a national holiday to be held on the second Sunday of May.
Anna Jarvis of Philadelphia, who was never a mother herself, is
credited with bringing about the official observance of Mother's
Day. We love being pampered on Mother's Day. Moms, grandmas and
special ladies in our lives bask in the luxury bestowed upon us
on Mother's Day. Becca and Kenny would wake and join me on the bed,
dad brought me coffee and I opened the gifts that were carefully
chosen for me. Truly all mothers cherish their day, whether we are
treated to an all day outing away from the kitchen or busily prepare
a meal for our own mothers and our daughters, now mommas themselves.
When day is done we all sit quietly, going over the events of the
day. Once again we reread the lovely greeting cards we received,
before lovingly placing them in that special place where we keep
our souvenirs. God made a wonderful mother, A ...
